Good evening HMS Pirate families,

This week, our HMS Pirates will begin STAAR testing, starting with the Reading STAAR for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students on Tuesday, April 14. We are incredibly proud of the hard work our students have shown and know they are ready to shine!

On testing days, students will report directly to their assigned testing rooms upon arrival rather than their usual 1st-period class and will remain there until testing is complete campus-wide. To help maintain a smooth and focused testing environment, we ask that students remain on campus for the full day, as early departures can disrupt the process.

Due to the adjusted schedule, lunch will be held in classrooms, and outside food deliveries will not be permitted. Students may bring a lunch from home (please ensure it does not require a microwave), or they may receive a school lunch.

To support student success, we encourage all students to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast each morning. While there is no need to study specifically for STAAR, a positive mindset and confidence will go a long way.

In an effort to reward student ownership, any student who brings a fully charged Chromebook or both their Chromebook and charger will receive an out-of-dress code wristband to be used on Wednesday, April 15.
