Principal Bio
Dr. Jessica Zelkovich is proud to serve as the Principal of Heartland Middle School in Crandall ISD. With more than 10 years of experience in education, she has served the district in a variety of roles, including assistant principal, district instructional coach for Reading Language Arts and History, instructional department head, classroom teacher, administrative assistant, and substitute. Her diverse experiences have shaped her belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to continuous growth are the foundation of exceptional schools.
Dr. Zelkovich earned her Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas Tech University and holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about supporting teachers, improving instructional practices, and creating learning environments where every student feels valued, challenged, and empowered to succeed.
Having lived in a variety of states across this great nation, Dr. Zelkovich has gained an appreciation for different communities, perspectives, and experiences. These opportunities have strengthened her belief that every child deserves a safe, welcoming, and engaging school environment where they can thrive academically and personally.
Beyond her role as an educator, Dr. Zelkovich is a wife and the proud mother of two children. She understands the importance of strong partnerships between schools and families and is committed to working collaboratively with students, staff, and the community to ensure every Pirate reaches their full potential.
Dr. Zelkovich is excited to lead Heartland Middle School under the belief that Heart Matters: Your Choices. Your Actions. Your Impact. She looks forward to building a culture where every student and staff member feels connected, supported, and inspired to make a positive difference.
